Derrick “Guy” Spruill: Williamston, NC resident who was convicted of cocaine trafficking in 1993. He was incarcerated until 2008. Shortly after his early release he became a missing person and was eventually discovered deceased inside a burned-up car in rural Martin County.

Steve Canon: Oak City, NC resident who own and operates an insurance business inside the former BB&T bank building that was robbed in 1992. Steve’s father was mayor of Oak City when the robbery occurred and his aunt was the teller who first realized a robbery was taking place on the morning of October 12, 1992.

Richard Elijah Smith: Known by the alias ‘Joe Rags’. Jamesville, NC native with a lengthy criminal history spanning the 1980’s and 1990’s. He was convicted of murder in 1996 and remains incarcerated.

Kenneth Lindell Williams: Williamston, NC resident who was arrested in the 1990’s for drug offenses in Martin County. He and Ezekiel Brown were arrested by Tim Hines in September of 1991 for cocaine possession and trafficking. Kenneth is now deceased.

Ezekiel Tyrone Brown: Williamston, NC resident who was arrested in the 1990’s for drug offenses. His cases were later dropped by the prosecuting attorney. Ezekiel was an associate of Kenneth Williams but denies any familiarity with Douglas Wagg Jr.

Francis worked for the town of Bethel from 1992 to 1997 and often crossed paths with law enforcement personnel from the Roanoke Chowan Narcotics Task Force, Martin County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding neighboring agencies.

Larry Darnell Jones: accused perpetrator in the 1992 Oak City, NC bank robbery that resulted in the shooting death of Martin County Sheriff Jerry Beach. Jones was found dead of apparent suicide in his jail in January 1993, less than three months after his arrest.
